We are in a part of the Shackleton expanse that has had numerous ships disappear and experience navigational anomalies, but so far I have not experienced any such problems. Things seem normal here, almost too normal for the Expanse. The only even somewhat interesting navigational hazard is a cluster of stellar remnants that are causing some gravitic waves, but I've resolved that with some simple 3d Fourier analysis to resolve the underlying regular waveforms. Yet still, we are here on a rescue mission after the Ontario experienced navigation and power problems. I'll have to pay attention to my melon, if what affected them affects us it will probably happen with little warning.
The Ontario is under attack, but not by any ordinary foe. This enemy is not firing photon torpedoes or energy beams, there have been no hull breaches, and yet the ship is paralyzed. The Crew of the Kongzi will have to navigate not just space but themselves and each other to save the Ontario and all the souls on board her. Will they be paralyzed with inaction or can they overcome the mysterious force which has taken hold over this region of the expanse?
