Whew, finally.

For what should have been a simple Pokemon for me to chain was an utter pain in the ***.

First of all, I should have already been done with this thing - I got to 37 on the first try, and the chain (heart) broke.

I tried all day yesterday to try and get it back, and the closest I got was 19, and even then, I made an extremely noobish mistake and miss-stepped and broke the chain...

I think the "Trainer ID Score" might be to blame. Someone once told me that it affects your chain and if it'll continue or not, which would explain my distress over this, a 30% encounter rate Pokemon whose chain was once broken by a freakin' Scyther.
My ID score is lower on Platinum since I just started playing it, obviously.
More on that later, I guess.... anyway...

So today, I did what I done in the beginning and what I should have done all along: Take it easy.

Patience, patience, patience.

It took almost 200 Repels but I got to 40, and it took 228 Radar resets before the shiny grass came... I think.

Who knows, there might have been more before this one, because I honestly didn't know what was coming.

In Platinum, the graphics are a little bit different. They're smoother, crisper, and scroll better. But the first thing I noticed when I pressed that Radar button for the first time was they had changed the grass patch graphics ever so slightly.

The Common grass shakes differently than in Diamond and Pearl. It rustles up and down instead of left to right. It's a little hard to describe. But it's also bolded and clearly a different sprite.
The way it rustles to me is like it's chuckling at you.

Great. Now it's laughing at my failures. (Who's laughing now, biatch?!)

The Rare grass hasn't changed much at all. The sprite is thicker like the common grass, but it shakes just the same as it's D/P counterpart.

Now, the Shiny Grass...

It's not changed much either but what concerns me is that it stops the same time the Common Grass does. In D/P, it lasts the longest of the grasses, even if it's just a millisecond.

So you either see it or you don't. There's no way to physically tell if there's been one or not. (Inexperinced chainers need not apply/heed this message anyways)

So, uh, yeah. First Platinum shiny. I repeat the new shiny grass at the end for your viewing pleasure.

Enjoy!
