Is planting by the phase of the moon complete nonsense or is it backed by both folklore and science? I’ve got a deep appreciation of traditional practices, but I’m also a scientist and skeptical of anything that feels a too new-age. There, however, might be something to lunar or moon based planting calendars.
🌕 The basic rule set goes like this:
• Waxing Moon (new → full):Plant crops that produce above ground, based on the belief that the moons strength is increasing and pulling upward (e.g., lettuce, beans, tomatoes, corn)
• Waning Moon (full → new):Plant root crops, as it believe that the moon’s strength is decreasing (e.g., potatoes, carrots, beets, onions)
