It just snowed here in Kentucky, and that means one thing: it’s time to start native plants.
In this video, I walk through how I direct seed native plants in the snow, why winter is the ideal time for cold-stratified species, and how freeze–thaw cycles do the work for you. I also show how I winter sow native seeds in containers outdoors, what species benefit from each method, and how to plan your restoration areas during the dormant season.
