While talking to Professor Oak before his 'guide the player' state (meta-script 0 locked), Professor Oak will say "?" without displaying a text box. This is normally impossible because either Professor Oak isn't there or the script advances forcing you to follow him up the lab, after which the placeholder text doesn't appear. Using GameShark code 0100F0D5 (0100EFD5 in Yellow), you can see this "?" text which doesn't appear in a text box. This text is in the map's text pointer table as text 8 and is called via TX_FAR (text command 0x17).
