I thought it would be fun to make a tribute video to two musical films from the same year, starring actresses who the most famous WW2 pinups - Betty Grable (1916 - 1973) and Rita Hayworth (1918 - 1987). Both films were made and produced at each of their home studios - Fox (Grable) and Columbia (Hayworth) and both films were very popular and helped to boost the popularity of their leading ladies. While Rita's leading man, borrowed from MGM, Gene Kelly, would become an accomplished actor, dancer, and director and choreographer in his own right, Betty's on-screen love interest, John Harvey, had a brief and otherwise unremarkable career in film and early television. "Pin-Up Girl" and "Cover Girl" do boast some talented supporting character actors and were lavishly shot in Technicolor. I enjoy both movies, but I personally feel that "Cover Girl" is the best of the two. The background music is "The Big Noise From Winnetka" performed by The Swingfield Big Band.
