1,000 aluminium panels have been installed at the southern outbound exit of the West Gate Tunnel in South Kingsville, with just over 600 pieces remaining.
Each piece is lifted up to 50 metres high by crane.
Crews have also installed almost 300 of the more than 1,700 pieces for the tunnel entry and exit structure in Yarraville.
