I discuss how we can use tools and ideas from philosophy to combat misinformation and help promote critical thinking. In particular I focus on how and when appeals to authority are appropriate and how we can better justify appeals to scientific expertise. I also discuss ways to engage with people with differing worldviews, with a focus on using holistic worldview comparisons and helping the interlocutor to integrate new information into their worldview without feeling threatened.
