I discuss methdological approaches to investigating miracle claims, arguing that we need to apply the same methodology to assessing miraculous and naturalistic explanations for anomolous phenomena. I argue that religious apologists rarely try to explain why God adopts certain intentions and why he uses specific means to acheive them, which is essential to establishing the plausibility and explanatory scope of an explanation. I apply this to three case studies: the resurrection of Jesus, the Shroud of Turin, and the Miracle of the Sun at Fatima.
