Phoebe won first prize with composition 'Blood Moon’, in the Music to Picture category for Guildhall Young Artists competition 'RELEASE'.

Phoebe, from Junior Guildhall says: "Blood Moon is an experimental short film that I made and wrote the soundtrack for - it's inspired by experimental and surrealist film from the 20th century such as the works of David Lynch and Cecelia Condit. I wanted the music to feel very stilted and awkward at times and alien at others, evoking an uncanny-valley kind of uneasiness rather than using a typical horror music style. I also gave it a vintage quality which was achieved via EQ filters and imitating the sounds of early synthesizers. As well, the exclusion of nearly all diegetic sound was deliberate as it makes it silent-film-esque, and puts an emphasis on music rather than dialogue."

The category judge for Music to Picture was Rob Lane, Film & TV Composer.
