I’ve been playing JRPGs for more than a few minutes now, and one series that I haven’t stopped hearing about is Phantasy Star. The first four games of the series were released on early Sega consoles, and received an outstanding reception. Phantasy Star IV: The End of the Millennium, often regarded as the best in the series, so I thought I would start here.
So, how does this classic RPG, that is often regarded as the best RPG on the Genesis / Megadrive, hold up today? Is Phantasy Star 4t worth playing?

Less than a year after it was first announced, Piranha Bytes newest RPG, Elex II, is finally here. This German developer is well known for the Risen and Gothic series, with some of these titles being met with critical acclaim.
It seems that Piranha Bytes took some of the problems of Elex 1 to heart, as many of these issues have been ironed out. While certainly not perfect, I was surprised addictive Elex 2 was. So what makes ELEX 2 so great and where does it fall short? Hopefully this review will answer all of your questions.

Visions of mana is the 5th main title in the Mana series, and the first since Dawn of Mana was released all the way back in 2006.
If you’re a fan of the series, then you’ll feel right at home here, as Visions of Mana looks and feels exactly like a modern Mana game should.
If you’re new to the series, what you can expect is an incredibly fun, mostly light hearted, action RPG experience, with a lot of charm.

Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster number IV, now things are starting to get serious! The fourth game in the series, originally titled FF2 in the US, was first released in 1991, and since then, has received loads of different versions, and even a complete remake for the DS in 2007.
At the time of its release FF4 was met with critical acclaim, with its revolutionary Active Time Battle (ATB) mechanics, and storytelling being the stand out features.
I can highly recommend playing FF4 if you want to go back and get a taste of Final Fantasy history, and this Pixel Remaster is a great way to do so.

There’s something about organized crime, and gangster themed media that has always interested me. Empire of Sin, in one such title that has been on my radar since day 1. This strategy RPG is set in in Chicago during the 1920s, where you take the role of a Crime boss, in charge of managing their empire, and taking over the city. Now, Empire Sin is a little rough around the edges, with many bugs and glitches, but it has some brilliant ideas. There is so much potential here, with many addictive mechanics, but also has a lot of room for improvement. This review is going to look into what works well, and what doesn’t, and hopefully help you decide if Empire of Sin is worth playing.

Tactics Ogre: Let us Cling Together is a PSP remake of the Japanese exclusive Tactics Ogre, released on the Super Famicom in 1995 (later ported to the PSX in North America). This is one SRPG I’ve been wanting to play for years.
A few years ago, I had my first taste of the series, with Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen. Let’s just say, I had a few issues with it, and my motivation to play the other games in series, was now gone. Fast Forward to 2022 and a Remaster of the PSP remake, titled Tactics Ogre Reborn, was born.
This one is very meaty remaster, with loads of changes that both enhances the original experience, and also changes up the gameplay significantly. But is this remaster worth your time? Watch and find out!

It’s absolutely crazy that Trails fans didn’t even have to wait a year for the followup up to Trails Through Daybreak. This series has become one of my favourite gaming series, and I could not wait to see how the Calvard arc continued. Fortunately for us, Falcom and NIS America are doing everything they can to get these games to use soon, and I appreciate that so much!
