I know that asking people to read something that's longer than 3 sentences is a big ask in today's world where people are conditioned to make fun of those who write anything longer than a paragraph, but I think this is interesting (or interesting to me, at least.)
The story of this level begins with the first level I've ever created in Geometry Dash, BTstep. It was named after my old in-game username. The level itself is riddled with blunders and held together with duct tape. The slopes in the wave segment are decoration and don't have hitboxes, spike objects are strewn across the level, and it doesn't even play like Clubstep; the level it was inspired by. Here's a showcase of it, if you care enough: youtu.be/w60euSyHnmk
For years, I've had the idea of remaking this level and making it look and feel closer to Clubstep, while keeping some of the ideas BTstep had. Every time I'd try, I'd give up minutes later because I get bored very easily and creating isn't my strong suit. Something was different when I began working on this level, though.
Work on this level started in October 2021, when I posted the initial layout to this YouTube channel. The video showing the layout now has over 360 views, which is a lot compared to other videos on my channel. I then got to work on decorating the beginning of the level and changing the layout to get rid of some parts that didn't fit. After a few weeks, I managed to decorate about 30% of the level before taking a break. This break would last several months and alienate me from my own level by making me realize that this is going to take way longer to finish than I initially expected. Sometimes, I would come back to this and add a few details or work on the next part of the level for a little while and then not touch it again for a few months. It's been over a year since I've stopped consistently working on this level. Only 45% of the level has been finished. The decoration isn't great, but I think it's good enough. It's like a weird mashup of 1.6 decoration and 2.1 features, which I don't think I've ever seen anyone pull off like this.
I've considered renaming this level to You Was At the Club if I ever release this, because PGstep sounds similar to PG Clubstep and I don't want people to assume this is a remake of that level.
One of the strongest motivators that got me to work on this level was the possibility of it getting rated, but I've since realized that this is never going to happen. Demon standards are way too strict to let something like this get a star-rate. I have a demon level on my account that looks way better than this, that's still not rated, so I don't think it's ever going to happen to this level if I finish it. The next biggest motivator is self-fulfillment, I guess? It's not enough for me to actually want to finish this level, though.
Instead of leaving this level to rot away in my created levels, I figured I'd share what I made over a year ago. I hope you like it.

![[WR] Dont Touch Spikes by Codex in 6.59 - Geometry Dash 2.2
The crazy speed on display here can be activated by turning on this levels LDM. I disabled nearly all of my Geode mods to see if one of them was tripping the games anticheat with this; turns out you just cant get sub-10 second times, like, at all. The only person with a time below 10 seconds is a moderator, and Im pretty sure they have some form of anticheat bypass. To put it lightly, I #EPICALLY #OWNED mbed at their own game and they should resign because I SAID SO.
I also got a ~5.4 time off recording, but it was a fluke and I was so perplexed by it that I just started recording until I got a sub-7 time. I also got 7.982, which is also WR, according to the in-game leaderboard.
