Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival brings you "Meet the Filmmakers" episode “Blindsight”. Interview with the director Adrian Sitaru, interviewer Edvinas Pukšta.

Adrian Sitaru is a Romanian director, producer and actor. He is most known for directing the films "The Fixer" (2016), "Art" (2014) and "Counterpart" (2014). He has a total of 36 awards and 42 nominations. Most recently he and Anastaseu Stefan won Best Short Fiction Film in the 2025 Gopo Awards for their film "@TIKTOK_COWBOY".
In his newest film, “Blindsight”, Adrian Sitaru collaborates with director of photography Adrian Silişteanu to create the illusion that the characters are handing the camera to each other. The story follows a family travelling to Turkey by boat to find a surgeon for 13-year-old Andrei. During their trip, they find a Ukrainian refugee named Katerina hiding on their boat. She is on a journey to illegally enter Turkey and to find her parents. The story explores themes of familial relationship and loneliness and reminds us of the importance of preserving memories.

Ta on võitnud kokku 36 auhinda ning on olnud nomineeritud 42 korda. Viimati ta võitis parima lühimängufilmi 2025. aasta Gopo Awardsil filmi eest "@TIKTOK_COWBOY”, auhind, mida ta jagab oma kaasrežissööriga Anastaseu Stefan.
Tema uusimas filmis “Kivi, paber, käärid” teeb Adrian Sitaru koostööd fotograafia direktoriga Adrian Silişteanuga, et luua illusioon, et tegelased annavad filmi jooksul kaamera üksteise kätte. Lugu jälgib ühte perekonda, kes rändab paadiga Türki, et leida 13-aastasele Andreile kirurg. Üks päev nad leiavad oma paadis peitmas Ukraina põgeniku, kes on ebaseaduslikul rändel Türki, et leida üles oma vanemad.
