Our journey continues in Kampung Penimbawan, Sabah, where community-driven restoration is breathing life back into coastal ecosystems. Local communities are actively involved in seagrass transplantation, working together to revive and protect their marine environment.
Together with researchers, we collaborate to restore seagrass meadows, raise awareness at the grassroots level and empower individuals to take climate action.
This programme, driven by Yayasan PETRONAS, marks an important step in marine ecosystem conservation through a Seagrass Mapping and Community-Based Programme that covers the mapping of seagrass meadows in Malaysia. It supports restoration of seagrass meadows, promotes awareness of their importance in climate mitigation and empowers communities to build resilience for a sustainable future.
