Between land and sea, mangroves stand as nature’s coastal defenders. They capture carbon from both air and water, lock it deep in their roots and soils, and create safe havens for countless species.
Through the Planting Tomorrow initiative with Yayasan PETRONAS, local communities are restoring mangroves in Sungai Santi helping to conserve biodiversity, strengthen coastlines, and support livelihoods.
Sungai Santi is also home to the PETRONAS Blue Carbon Collective, where research and knowledge exchange are advancing understanding of how mangrove ecosystems contribute to climate action.
Today, as the world marks the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, we celebrate not only the progress made in protecting our skies but also the collective efforts to conserve mangroves and safeguard our shorelines for generations to come.
