Peter Gunn was a TV show, 1958-61, a noir detective series. The theme song was written by Henry Mancini. I'm guessing that this "guitar riff" tune was the inspiration for many spy themes of the 60s. My website: playsteelguitar.com The tuning is C6 with a couple of alterations for this song. I tuned my high G down to F# and I have a low E, string 8. The middle 6 strings are standard C6 lap steel: (low to high) C E G A C E. 98% of the song is played on the middle 6 strings. I only played strings 1 & 8 a couple of times, and only as fills.
