An alien scout arrives on Earth with a mission to identify the planet's greatest vulnerability before a full-scale invasion begins. However, the alien soon discovers that humanity’s most powerful "weapon" isn't a piece of military technology, but rather the complex and often destructive nature of human empathy and emotion. As the scout becomes entangled in the lives of a small-town family, the mission is compromised, leading to a conclusion that explores whether our humanity is a fatal flaw or our greatest defense.

Jack Logan travels back to New York City in 1977. He is accompanied by a retired, cynical detective to investigate an unsolved diamond robbery involving $10 million in missing gems.
