To celebrate another wonderful game release (after the memetastic Animal Crossing x Doom crossover for that release a while ago), I decided to cover a track from the game. This song in the OST immediately caught my attention for 1) being a solo piano ballad and 2) having a more simple and somber tone than most of the upbeat acid jazz bops from the rest of the soundtrack. And as you know from me, I love me some good CHILL PIANO BEATS TO RELAX AND STUDY TO 24/7, so I hope you enjoy this quiet tune while you're busy bustling through online classes or jobs.

So as Ive mentioned before, Im part of an online VGM community called Pixel Mixers that has monthly thematic contests. This month was Metroidvanias, and being a huge Metroid nerd I really wanted to put something together last minute for this contest!
I picked this song cuz of the emotional impact it had on me when I first played Super Metroid. I remember that one night where I was playing it on the SNES Classic and plugged it my budget home theatre system (projector onto the wall and some decent speakers with a subwoofer) when I got to this area. The spooky ambience crept down my spine as I thought Oh shoot, Im trapped in here and cant get out. And then the music started to ominously boom in on the speakers, and man did I get a rush fear and isolation. It was just such a good moment that I had to try to recreate that sense of dread with this cover.
So enjoy my piano cover of Super Metroids Brinstar Red or Brinstar Red Soil Wetland Area or Brinstar Red Soil Swampy Area or Brinstar Underground Depths or whatever the hecc you wanna call this song :v

Man has this cover been a while in the making! It started back in like March (which is why the old school piano and VST make a return) and the vocal recordings happened around May, but then getting the video for that took foreverrrrrr. After several months of time conflicts and accidentally losing footage and an entire camera (RIP VIXIA HF-R40), we finally got our act together and managed to get it done!
I instantly fell in love with this song when I played Super Smash Bros Brawl with my sister and were like lol this is such soppy battle music, I feel bad for beating you up like Pikachu in the Pokemon movie. So after listening to this enhanced version of My Heart Will Go On a lot and getting acquainted with the Metal Gear series, I had to get my own take on it with the amazing vocals of Grace to complete this beautiful song 🧡

First of all, THREE HOUSES IS FINALLY HERE! :D
Second of all, yes this is technically the start of Year 6 but no this isnt the start of Year 6, since I got a while until I start uploading regularly again ;-; But every year I have at least one song that I wanna hype up before the season truly starts, so I thought that the new main theme from Fire Emblem: Three Houses would get some creative juices flowing.
So the only Fire Emblem games Ive played before (aka had friends play while me and a couple other lads voice-acted the cutscenes) are Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn with our boi Ike (whom I like), but Ive heard a lot of good things about Three Houses. So when a friend showed me that there was an official piano version of the amazingly electronic main theme, The Edge of Dawn, I got right to transcribing it as best as I could for two hands (cuz the original version is like three hands and some synths or something).
So yeah heres just something to [cash in on hype] *ahem* I mean to hold you over until I come out swinging full force with my Year 6 covers, but until then I hope you enjoy this very early season premiere and, if youre playing it, the experience of Fire Emblem: Three Houses!

It all began on a high school band room piano, 5 years ago...
I cant believe another whole year of piano covers has come and gone already. But here we are, at 3/4 of the way to 10k subs and many thousands of views later, so to celebrate the ending of this era of the channel I wanted to do something extra special for yall. I havent done a full piano music video since my Smash Bros Melee Opening music video which has been stuck as the channel trailer for a while, so I decided it was time to take another swing at doing cinematic.
Ive gotten many requests for this song, but until now I honestly couldnt figure out how to arrange Kasss Theme for the longest time. I made a jazz combo version of it once that was OK, and was debating making a lofi hip-hop remix of it cuz chill is cool. But finally, I decided to make a rendition that was both faithful to the original (thanks to Latios212 of Ninsheetmusic for the original transcription! Check below for a sheet music link) and combined a little sampling of everything of my style, including bombastic chords, some flowing chill beauty, and plenty of *a r p e g g i o s*. To truly thank yall for all the support youve shown for my Breath of the Wild piano covers ever since Miphas Theme, Revalis Theme, and even the E3 2016 trailer music, I wanted to make this arrangement as DS Music-esque as possible, and I hope you all enjoy it.
Anyways, thats all folks. I cant believe how much stuff Ive covered over this past year and all the folks met and played music with, whether it be via Pixel Mixers or Materia Collective or at Magfest or just online in general. Thank you all for being such a great VGM community. Ive got some more cool ideas for piano things in mind, so stay tuned!
