Permaculture on Bonaire - part 1 is a small video slide series in which I explain how I started the first permaculture garden on Bonaire.
Bonaire is a small island in the Caribbean that has almost no fresh groundwater. These salty conditions make for quite a challenge when it comes to planting, farming and even gardening.
Despite the difficulties, I decided that I needed to feed healthier food to my wife, two sons and myself. So I decided to start a permaculture garden.
I started with a piece of land of just under two acres. Almost half of that is a dam that holds rainwater and the remainder is both a food forest and an 800 square foot greenhouse
This first video shows the first 3 months from September to December 2011.
