Soooo, I've been on a bit of a hiatus as of late. After releasing my most recent album a year ago, I got quite burnt out and busy. I wouldn't say I'm fully done being on hiatus, but I've slowly started doing my own projects again.
I started this cover a few weeks ago, so not immediately after Periphery's new album came out, but still pretty soon after. I've been enjoying the album a lot, even though it is pretty different. Not entirely sure what spurred on the idea of making a chiptune version of this, but once I had the idea I knew I needed to follow it. I feel like the lonely feeling of this song translates well to NES beep boops lol.
I haven't done Famitracker stuff in a while, so it was nice to get back into it! I think this is the best I've ever done it.

You already know the drill: 2A03 + VRC6, the ultimate combo. I'm never able to limit myself to just the two pulse waves in the 2A03, so I always gotta add in the VRC6. I just can't live without having enough tracks to add delays to my melodies lmao. I used the saw wave as expected, mainly just doubling the basslines on the tri. The DPCM channel gets abandoned once again, cause I don't have much use for samples. I prefer the kicks I make on the tri channel and the hats/snares I make on the noise channel. I promise I'll use you someday DPCM ;-;
I batch exported the tracks in Furnace, with the hopes that I'd do some panning in Logic to make it feel Big and Stereo. Turns out I did not arrange it well for that, so instead I just kept it entirely mono. I did some very tiny EQ moves to clean up some harshness, but really nothing all that noticeable. I kept the final export very faithful, only really doing a small amount of mastering (like, not even a limiter, just a clipper that hardly touched any peaks).
Making this song work with the limitations was honestly pretty hard, but I feel like my creative solutions ended up making it something special. I hope you think the same! :D

-WARNING: LONG READ AHEAD-
It has been around 2 years since I first covered Chill Penguin from Megaman X and Ive learned a lot since then. Despite how everyone else on the 2016 hate bandwagon thinks, 2016 has been extremely fortunate for me; its pretty crazy honestly. For one, I turned 16, which really made me think about the future (college, my career, fucking dying etc.), secondly, Ive made friends with so many cool people throughout the year, third, Ive become at least a little more popular on Youtube, Soundcloud, etc. and lastly I have improved drastically in many ways. Ive been learning how to play piano, how to apply music theory knowledge to guitar, and how to make my content look better, sound better, and flow better. Id just like to give thanks to everyone who has supported me throughout the year, I wont name anyone since you know who you are. :D Sorry for the long read, this song and this year as well are just very important to me and this channel so I really just had to explain.

Not much to say here, just a simple chiptune remix turned into a clean electric guitar cover.
