Henriette Vamberg - Partner, Managing Director DK, Gehl Architects outlines growing cities intersect with health problems and social inequity. She looks at how city design affects the amount of walking and cycling and how good urban design can reduce the health burden of the global physical inactivity pandemic.
She then outlines the pedestrian strategy of Copenhagen, prioritising pedestrians and cyclists and the integration with public transport.
Henriette was speaking at the recent Transport, Cities and Places conference with the CIHT Learned Society. The event brought together Architects and Highways Engineers to discuss ways to improve city life, including cycling, neuroscience and being technology fed not technology led.
