“People Are People” by Depeche Mode was more than just a hit — it was a statement.
Long before words like “woke” even existed, this song was already addressing division, intolerance, and the simple truth that we’re all the same at the core. Its message still feels just as relevant today.
This is my C64 SID interpretation of this iconic track — reducing everything down to just 3 voices, yet trying to keep that raw, industrial energy alive. The metallic percussion, the drive, the attitude… all rebuilt on the legendary Commodore 64 sound chip.
It’s kind of crazy when you think about it:
A machine from the 80s… recreating a song that was ahead of its time.
