This is the preview of Madoushi Lulba/Sorcerer Lulba from Disc Station #15 (MSX2). I fan-translated it to English using a video editor.
Big thanks to Wyrdwad for proof-reading.
Madoushi Lulba is a visual novel made by Compile in 1990. It was released exclusively on Disc Station Deluxe #2 (MSX2). Its a compilation/remake of previous Lulba chapters from Disc Station #1, #2 and #4, with upgraded visuals and sounds, as well as an extra chapter. Notes:
- This is the WOOMB English release of Xak I, translated by Rieks Warendorp Torringa and implemented by Tobias Keizer (used with permission). Unfortunately, its not available for sale anymore. Please, dont ask me where you can get it yourself.
- The WOOMB release supports the R800 processor of MSX turbo R machines, which makes the gameplay much, much more smoother and enjoyable. This playthrough makes use of that.
- This playthrough uses an exploit (which I figured out myself some years back) to gain experience points and money faster, which makes for a shorter video. This exploit is done in the base game without any additional tools, and has been tested to work on real MSX systems (thanks SkyeWelse!). Basically, what you do is to keep LEFT, RIGHT, and SPACE keys pressed down simultaneously, while an enemy is on your left side, stuck between you and a solid object. Make sure that youre not trying to do this with too strong enemies or else the trick wont work.
- Feares Town, as its called in this translation, should actually be called Fearless Town (Microcabins official romanization)

Notes:
- The MSX2 version of this game is otherwise the same, but plays slower and has different opening and ending graphics. That version also doesnt use any PCM speech samples.
- Beside the two MSX versions, this game was also released for PC88VA, PC-9801, and PC Engine platforms. Theres also Fray: Shugyou-hen (Fray: Training Edition) released for the Game Gear, which is an auto-scrolling vertical shooter with shop screens in between levels.
- Fray in Magical Adventure, which is also known as Fray: Xak Gaiden (フレイサーク外伝), takes place after the events of Xak I, but during the events of Xak II, and it ends right before Latok is heading towards the Death Mountain (Xak II).
