- The MSX2 version of this game is otherwise the same, but plays slower and has different opening and ending graphics. That version also doesn't use any PCM speech samples.
- Beside the two MSX versions, this game was also released for PC88VA, PC-9801, and PC Engine platforms. There's also Fray: Shugyou-hen (Fray: Training Edition) released for the Game Gear, which is an auto-scrolling vertical shooter with shop screens in between levels.
- Fray in Magical Adventure, which is also known as Fray: Xak Gaiden (フレイサーク外伝), takes place after the events of Xak I, but during the events of Xak II, and it ends right before Latok is heading towards the Death Mountain (Xak II).

- The music for this game was composed by Nobuo Uematsu of Final Fantasy fame. It was one of his earlier works. In the game manual he used the pseudonym Kentaro Hayabusa. - This game was also planned to be released for Famicom Disk System and PC-88, but those versions were cancelled in the end due to Square not being happy with the quality. A prototype of the Famicom Disk System version was found and dumped in 2011. (source: The Untold History of Japanese Game Developers, Volume 3 - http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/books/the-untold-history-of-japanese-game-developers-volume-3/)
- There is another Aliens game for the MSX, and other 8-bit computers, called Aliens: The Computer Game, which is totally different from this one (not to be confused with Activisions game of the same name from 1986, which was released in the US for the Commodore 64, Apple II, and ZX Spectrum). That one was developed and published by Electric Dreams Software in 1987 in Europe, and ported to the MSX by Mr. Micro.
