Playing Horace Silver's classic song "Peace" with my Vic Firth signature mallet (M39) on a vintage Musser M55 Pro Vibes from 1972. Always fun for me to create in the moment as opposed to playing a preconceived arrangement. It's the process that I enjoy and have more fun with by taking a standard tune like this and seeing where it goes.
In terms of exploration and experimentation, there are so many areas to think about. Some of the areas and elements I think about: solo vibraphone concepts, voicing techniques, reharmonization, dampening applications, use of counterpoint and orchestration/arranging techniques. All of these topics are covered in depth with written out arrangements in my latest book Concepts, Techniques and Applications for Solo Vibraphone.
