Pauli Exclusion Principle

Dr. DeBacco

Pauli Exclusion Principle
No 2 electrons in an atom can have the same 4 quantum numbers
Each orbital can hold a maximum of two electrons, and they must have opposite spins:
One electron: ↑
Two electrons: ↑↓

Pauli Exclusion Principle
Each electron must have its own address in terms of:
1.  Principal #  (energy level)
2. Angular mom. #  (sublevel)
3. Magnetic #  (orbital)
4.  Spin #
