Today we have August's Poll ready to go! August is a special month because it was the very first poll I even ran back in 2017, so it marks the anniversary of this whole thing, the website and all. So I tried making these tracks as different as possible to offer a bit more variety this time around. I spent a little more time developing a few of them than I probably should have, but I think they mostly turned out okay. On to the tracks!

The first track is a frantic, orchestral piece called "Defend the Base." I imagined an invasion force storming our location and we had to rush to alert everyone, dig in and fight them off. We have fast strings, slamming percussion, super fast brass lines and some vocal chanting come together to create a feeling of intense struggle.

Next up we have "One Day, You Will See." I used several different strings sections, some heartbeat-like percussion and a few choirs to create a mixture of feelings. There are hints of being somber and a little sad, but I think what is really driving this track is some sort of deep realization. Something of the deepest importance in our lives needs to be understood, and until we can, we must stay the course. It's the only way to find what we need.

The third track is a darker, beat type of thing called "Some Clowns Wanna Burn the World." I tried mixing some hip-hop and industrial elements with the wonky piano to create some kind of gritty, off-kilter circus atmosphere. The trumpet rips play pretty high up in their register to give them an almost "toy-like" effect to add to the bizarro, clown feeling.

Howdy, partners! It's the adventurous wild west and we're kicking the dust off our boots and riding into the sunset in "Time to Hit the Trail." We have fast-paced strings, bold, repeating brass lines, a little guitar for support and naturally some trumpet and french horns taking the leads. Don't forget to water your horse and clean your guns! Who knows what may lie ahead!

Now it's time to forget the sunshine and move right into the dank, musty undergrounds of an "Abandoned Facility." We start with an echoing synth sound that really sets the tone for this whole piece. It feels cold and lonely. There's metallic percussion for all the weird pipes running under here. We have weird, backing pads providing an almost otherworldly feeling, because it feels like we're so separated from the world down here. The cello takes the lead, playing in slow, brooding fashion.

Track number 6 is "Making Fantasy Reality." It's full of magic, hope and dreams. The harp immediately whisks us into the air on its wispy wings and we begin to fly to a far off world. The strings play with a quick, downward slide that adds a bit of whimsy. Once the shimmery glockenspiel and flutes enter, we're in full-blown, technicolor, fantasy mode.

Next up is a detective, Noir track named "Working the Case." We start slowly with the plucked bass and some finger snaps. We have some moody guitar to help with our gritty, urban feeling. The vibraphone is our lead instrument and adds a bit of an almost playful, lighthearted touch as we delve into this game of cat and mouse.

Lastly, we have the ever energetic "Race for Your Life." This has futuristic, Sci-Fi all over it. The track begins with a fast, pulsing bass and kick drum rhythm that let's us know immediately we're in the middle of the heat. The drums pick up as our backing synths start to enter and slowly build more tension. You can feel the balancing act on the edge of the knife. We're literally in a race against time and one mistake, no matter how small, will be our last.

Voting will end September 8th, so there's plenty of time to decide!
