I got to attend a collaborative burn in the Butte County Foothills, in Northern California, on June 1st, 2026. We put fire on the ground across about 7 acres of sugar pine, ponderosa, and black oak, with the objective of knocking back some of the brush and small seedling trees which are coming in after this area with hand-thinned and pile burned.

This video features 4 interviews with people who were part of the burn effort. There was no government fire agency participation on the burn except for a Cal Fire Chief who dropped by to observe.
