Our first (definitely not the last) ride in Patagonia 🇦🇷🇨🇱 https://motorentpatagonia.com.ar/
The end of fall in Patagonia is usually calm, crisp, and dry. No such luck for our trip, but we made the most of it. Cold hands, soaked gear, constantly adjusting plans… but also some of the most beautiful riding we’ve ever done.
We rented motorcycles from Moto Rent Patagonia out of Villa La Angostura and set out on a 4-day loop through Argentina and Chile. If you’re thinking about doing a trip like this, they made it easy:

Here’s the route we took:
Day 1: Villa La Angostura → San Martín de los Andes
Picked up the bikes and headed north through the Seven Lakes district.
Stopped for a hike to Cascada Ñivinco (about 3 miles round trip).
Rolled into San Martín, soaked and scrambled to upgrade our glove situation. Found handlebar covers that ended up saving the trip.
Day 2: San Martín de los Andes → Mocho Choshuenco (Chile)
Crossed into Chile and took the ferry across Lago Pirihueico.
Snuck in a waterfall hike and a little fishing during a break in the weather.

This place was a highlight. We camped outside in our Haven Tents, but having a warm space to dry gear and eat was huge. Wood-fired hot tub, good food, and Derek tried maté for the first time. The ride up the volcano to the refugio was one of the best stretches of the trip. Big trees, endless switchbacks.
Day 3: Mocho Choshuenco → Riñinahue area
Our wettest day.
Stopped at Mirador Puente Nilahue. The rain had the waterfalls absolutely ripping.
Riñinahue is a zone you could spend a few days in for sure (with better weather)
Day 4: Riñinahue → Villa La Angostura
Stopped at Puyehue Hot Springs to thaw out.
Blue skies as we crossed back into Argentina. One last unreal day of riding to finish it off.
If you’re thinking about Patagonia, expect the unexpected. The weather might not cooperate, but the riding makes it worth it.
