Two top quality vintage cornets are reviewed here with 7 (seven) mouthpieces - from the fairly shallow Reeves Medium, a Bach Mt. Vernon 7, A Warburton BC, a GR 6, a Curry 8.5 DC (Deep Cornet), a Curry BC, and lastly (one of my all time favorite mouthpieces) the Curry Vintage Cornet (VC) piece. I play an Olds Super Cornet for comparison to the King SilverSonic and Olds Recording a few times, and I also play a Bach Stradivarius Trumpet (18025L) to compare tone a few times. When the deep Curry BC mouthpiece is played on the cornets, I use a Bach Stradivarius 182 flugelhorn to compare sounds as well.
A shout out to Clay at CentexBrass.com... Clay has a staggering knowledge of Olds horns and history, great info on vintage Olds horns (olds-central.com/), and he is a class act as a brass seller as well. Tell him I say hi if you contact him. :)
