This is a continuation of my lecture on Mannerism, which will focus on the work of Parmigianino, painter of the Madonna with the Long Neck, and El Greco, who painted the Burial of the Count of Orgaz. Parmigianino and El Greco both challenged Renaissance conventions, moving beyond the depiction of ideal beauty to experiment with elongated figures and an emotional element.
