In February 2020, students from 4 Kansas City-area middle schools came together at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art for a summit held in conjunction with the exhibition Gordon Parks X Muhammad Ali: The Image of a Champion, 1966 / 1970.
Using the relationship between Parks and Ali as a guide, students considered the power of photography to express identity, examined the roles of photographer and subject, and built connections with one another by interviewing and photographing their peers.
