The School and Educator Programs department at the Nelson-Atkins believes educators are the greatest allies in creating engaging and relevant programming for Kansas City’s 21st century learners. The Teacher Advisory Board (TAB) is made up of active educators from the greater Kansas City metro region. TAB members bring a range of perspectives and teach a variety of subjects and ages: art, elementary general education, middle and high school social studies, English language arts, STEM, special education, etc.
TAB members act as valuable liaisons between the museum and school communities. They keep museum staff up-to-date about school system developments, student needs, and share museum resources with colleagues. TAB members provide valuable feedback on museum programming and collaborate with museum staff to develop offerings that align with school curricula and meet the complex needs of modern classrooms.
