So here we are with the toughest foe in the game... not really.
I wasn't actually going to show bonetail at all in this series because I didn't want to do the pit of 100 trials but then my brother went and did floors 1-99 for me then handed me my switch and said "you're fighting the boss" and I'd only just beaten chapter 4.
Difficulty: 8.5/10
She sports the highest HP in the entire game but as we'll see with the upcoming chapter 5 boss health bars are deceptive and she has a surprisingly crippling weakness to fire making flame drive an excellent attack and Vivian can also clock in the damage.
Sadly without attack boosts Yoshi is going to just be relegated to a meatshield, especially since she seems to be immune to all statuses other than burn, alongside Flurrie... ok that's a bit mean because Flurrie unironically came in clutch for this boss fight with her high HP and ability to actually damage bonetail. Though no ones damage will match goombella if you can successfully hit the action commands.
Koops can be useful with shell shield and if he's been upgraded once he'll be able to hurt Bonetail but only for 1 damage so have him as a tank not an attacker.
Realistically I played very suboptimally throughout this fight and still beat her on my first try. Nevermind having the right badge setups to basically kill her in 2 or 3 turns, but I screwed up a lot of action commands and played defensively when I should have been offensive. Even then with all her craziness she still only attacks once per turn so if you're decent at guarding you're good and if you're a master at superguards this fight borders on being free. But to be fair she still sports the highest single health bar of any boss, is able to heal her self for 20 HP when she gets low, and has various elemental breath attacks.
While I would not recommend fighting her at this point in the game I would still say its worth going down to floor 50 to gain some extra experience and snag the inventory size upgrade.
