Tom Ford vs Melt. Urban Decay vs. Milk Makeup. What worked best? Swatches and reviews today!
I'm PANNING FOR GOLD! (a.k.a. curating my cosmetics with a project pan). Today I'm reporting back about my experience comparing my Melt Cosmetics "Neutral Browns" Petite Stack against my Tom Ford "Cocoa Mirage" quad, and my Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion against the Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Eye Primer. So stay tuned for reviews, swatches, comparisons and discussions of larger makeup-related topics, like "is luxury makeup better than high-end cosmetics?" and "can one eye primer rule them all?"
I use this project to find the best of the best, a.k.a. the gold nuggets of my makeup collection! How? I pair cosmetics with similar claims so that I can do head-to-head comparisons. And each time I strike gold, I report back. The gold nuggets get to stay, but if something turns out to be "fool's gold", it will get passed on to a new home. So... what will remain after this round of PANNING FOR GOLD?

How does one develop a sense of style? And how can we do it sustainably – both financially and environmentally? By enjoying and creatively using what we already have. By streamlining those things with thoughtful declutters. By developing awareness of how we use our stuff to encourage wiser decisions about the cosmetics, clothing and any other items we purchase. Sounds simple, but it's easier said than done. I've certainly been stumbling my way through it – let's stumble in style together!
