In September 2019, human rights lawyers, activists and survivors of human rights violations gathered in Berlin to discuss the issue of self-empowerment in the context of conflict transformation processes and struggles to tackle impunity for international crimes. For two days, participants from Chechnya/Russia, Sri Lanka, Syria and Turkey exchanged lessons learned and developed strategies on how survivors of human rights violations and their communities can actively contribute to legal, social and political transformation processes.

The panel discussion on "Self-empowerment for survivors of human rights violations and their communities" formed part of a broader series funded by the Robert Bosch Foundation and was carried out by ECCHR.
