Hiking Palo Duro Canyon

Palo Duro Canyon is located just outside the cities of Amarillo and Canyon Texas and is the second largest canyon in the United states. It is only surpassed by the Grand Canyon in Arizona. Palo Duro is about 120 miles in length and averages about 6 miles across. Although not nearly as deep as the grand, Canyon Palo Duro is an impressive feat of natural river erosion. The park spans 20,000 acres of desert and is a National Natural Landmark. Palo Duro is a great place to hike, mountain bike, ride horses, and camp. It costs 8 dollars for adult entry and kids 12 and under are free.
