Kayaking Lake Superior: Bark Bay, Wisconsin

Although I say we are going to the Apostle Islands in the video intro, that's not where we went. What was supposed to be a guided tour around the Apostle Islands got switched last minute due to rough waters. We Kayaked in Bark Bay, which although it wasn't where we had planned to go was still gorgeous and very fun. Bark Bay is on the Northern end of Wisconsin, which sticks out into Lake Superior as a peninsula. At the Northernmost end of that peninsula are the Apostle Islands, a series of islands protected as National Lakeshore. The area is known for its world class kayaking with "sea" caves, and amazing sculpted cliffs and arches.
We will definitely have to return to this area and explore more in the future. Our short 3 hour tour was not nearly long enough! We had time to Kayak out of the Bark Bay Slough and across the bay to the cliffs just around the corner, before having to head back.
It was in Wisconsin and on the Upper Peninsula of Michigan that our family discovered our love of Kayaking. This trip was one of the first in a long series of kayaking adventures that we have since had.
Special shout out to my sister-in-law Abby who spearheaded setting this one up, and traveled with our family for much of our journey through the Midwestern United States.
