Three generations of power delivery. One seriously compact future.
Ravi from Infineon’s power module team walks us through the evolution from first gen to third gen at APEC 2026.
It starts with an integrated point of load module rated from 70 amps down to 6 amps, complete with PMBUS capability and telemetry for OVP, VR temperature, and protection events. Then he stacks it against a 16 module, 32 phase vertical power delivery board built for GPU power — 48 volts in, 12 volts down, and a clean 1 volt core output. All with a current density of 1 A per square millimeter.
Then comes the jump: the third generation 280 amp module. Four phases per module. Eight modules total. Thirty two phases again, but now hitting 2 A per square millimeter in a smaller footprint that still matches the electrical specs of the earlier designs.
