What could be more fun that making a paper mache capybara mask? This is an easy pattern to put together, because these big gentle rodents are shaped like a box.

I got a little carried away while painting my mask, because all you really need to paint are the dark eyes and ears. That's how most cartoonists do it - it's the shape of that big square head that tells you it's a capybara. Of course, you also don't need to use brown paper for the paper mache, like I did. I really do like using it as a base color, but I also like the fact that I always have some on hand, and it's free. Newspaper works, too, of course. :)

You can see the pattern itself, (there's a small charge for it, of course), and a video showing how the pieces go together here: ultimatepapermache.com/capybara

If you think your capybara would like an alligator friend (!) you can find a pattern for an alligator mask here: ultimatepapermache.com/alligator-mask

Have fun! 😊
