Join me this Autumn to explore a sense of place in art. I’ll be using a series of cues to create works of art on paper loosely inspired by real and imagined landscapes.
I’ve been inspired by reading on slow travelling and human engagement with the natural world, and on visiting coastal paths along the Forth and the North Sea.
I’ll be sharing my regular watercolour tips and projects for beginners alongside the process of making larger works and some forays into mixed media, printmaking and acrylics.
The paintings in this episode were inspired by a passage from Robert MacFarlane's The Old Ways. I love his descriptive use of language and have been inspired to paint following some of the prompts from this book and from my own walks around the Scottish coast.
