VIDEO INFO: Of all the Led Zeppelin anthems given the opulent âUnleddedâ treatment with Moroccan strings and Egyptian percussion fused to the core musicians and arrangements, Kashmir surely benefitted the most. The original LP recording and indeed subsequent live performances with synthesisers always struck me as a bit tinny but it realises its full potential here at the climax to the set for MTVâs âUnpluggedâ series, recorded at the LWT studios during August 1994 and subsequently released as the âNo Quarterâ album/video.

VIDEO INFO: The definitive of only a handful of recreations of the duet with The Cardigansâ Nina Persson (dressed in, erm, a cardigan) at the 2007 Glastonbury Festival.
Though this is an exotically rare dynamic for the band, everything else about the song was quintessentially Manics and a return to form â the wordy title lifted straight from a suicide note, the dark inflections contrasting Richey Edwards with Syd Barrett.
Nicky Wire lifts verbatim the âTrade All Your Heroes For Ghostsâ lyric from âWish You Were Hereâ â one of several laments to the memory of Pink Floydâs own disturbed, AWOL intellectual who had himself died not long before.
The tempestuous subject matter, set to JDBâs most sugar-coated chords, was propelled to the higher reaches of the singles chart from where they had been absent for some time but, being the Manics, it peaked at No.2, missing out on top spot to Beyonce in May 2007.
