We drove 60 miles down the beach to the end of Padre Island… and found something incredible.
No people. No signs. Just sand, sky, and surf.
Tucked behind a dune, we found the perfect stretch of untouched shoreline and set up camp right on the edge of the water. It felt like our own private island—until the ocean had other plans.
This video captures the highs and lows of a remote overlanding trip to one of the most secluded spots on the Texas coast. From simple campfire meals and childhood nostalgia, to near disaster as the tide surged in faster than expected, this experience reminded us why the ocean holds so much power—and so much meaning.
For me, it’s more than just a place to explore. It’s where life began. Where we’re drawn back to. The ocean is a time machine… and out here, you can still feel its pull.
If you’re planning a trip to Padre Island, I’ve linked the tide tracker here: geni.us/padretide—don’t make the same mistake we did.
Watch the related video ’til the end for reflections, firelight, and maybe… a reason to return.
