This is the first video in a new mini series where I'll be building my dream packet radio node.
As always, I'll be following along with a blog post I've made, so you can follow long with written material.
The node will be running a Winlink RMS gateway, BPQ32, using VARA and Dire Wolf as the modems.
It will use 1 VHF radio, as well as one HF radio, and AX25 will be supported on both FM and HF.
There are many reasons I've decided to go with windows server 2022 for this build, and we'll get into more detail in the video. Windows is supported by VARA, as well as the Winlink RMS applications, unlink Linux.
The VARA implementation in wine is held together by glue and tape, and every OS update threatens to break things.
Windows server will provide more stability, and customization over a regular Windows 10/11 client.
In this video, I'll be configuring winnows server with the best group policies to reduce bandwidth, and we will be configuring windows to automatically log into an account.
