I've been wanting a Pace desoldering station ever since I bought my Pace ADS-200 soldering iron. Pace gear has heavy-duty construction, quality parts, and is designed to be serviceable. When a used "tech special" came up on eBay for a really good price, I jumped at it. In this video I completely tear down the MBT-350 desoldering station, replace a dim LCD screen, service the vacuum pump, and put it back together. The MBT-350 is an IntelliHeat station — the one with the blue plugs — and it works with SensaTemp handpieces if you use an adapter, so you'll see me try that adapter too. I install a new VisiFilter, go through the SX-90/SX-100 handpiece, and replace the cardboard solder trap with glass. Finally, I do a side-by-side comparison desoldering vintage ICs against my Hakko FR-301. For more electronics projects, see smbaker.com
