Video of the stage 6 boss where you can jam your plane in a safe spot. It's quite tricky to do; see that black pixel at the back of the tank? I try to line it up with the tail of the ship to cover it exactly as it bounces up and down, and then move to the left. Note that I'm using the Black Widow ship; I don't know of the designs of the other ships would throw this method off.
You have a bit of time to get yourself tucked away there. When/if you manage it, simply hold the fire button down and you'll take down the boss as it moves to the right and unjams you. Of course, you can stop firing if you want to milk the boss some more.
