Ozempic isn’t just a weight-loss drug anymore — at least, that’s the pitch. It protects your heart now. Your kidneys. Maybe even your brain.

So I went to the randomized trials.

Some of it holds up. In large trials, semaglutide produced real benefits for very sick people with heart disease, kidney disease, and obesity-related heart failure. Not prettier lab numbers — fewer heart attacks, better kidney outcomes, people who could literally walk farther.

Then researchers tested the most exciting claim of all. Two Phase 3 trials. Nearly 4,000 people.

Remember, the people being studied here are pretty darn sick to start.
