October 22, 2018 - Since Alex Ovechkin announced Nicklas Backstrom's selection at the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, the sniper and setup man have combined to be one of the all-time great player duos in league history. As their legendary careers progressed side-by-side, the two would find themselves chipping in on several of each other's career milestones along the way. A visit to Vancouver early in the 2018-19 season provided one of those moments. Ovechkin was already off to a great start in his Cup-defense season with six goals in the first seven games. Whatever game plan for Ovi the Vancouver Canucks drew up, let's just say it didn't work. The Great 8 breezed his way to a 2-goal, 2-assist outing. Ovechkin wasn't the only player with a big night, however, as Backstrom had picked up a three-assist game. Backstrom's second assist was his most notable. Coming on Ovechkin's second goal of the game, the helper marked the 600th assist of Backstrom's career. He was just the 87th player to ever reach the milestone.
I just uploaded a montage of their greatest moments together, so naturally only a month later I find a moment that could've gone in the video. While I was editing, I skipped it once I saw it was a boring secondary assist before they mentioned it was Backstrom's 600th assist. Granted, I wouldn't consider it one of their signature moments together. Hopefully, this is the _only_ thing I missed.
