This is my third year overwintering dahlia tubers. These are the steps I follow! They do great in storage and I can replant them again in the spring. Zone 6a

1. Use your hands, small shovel or pitchfork to dig up tubers. Be careful not to pierce the skin or cut the tubers
2. Rinse soil from the tubers
3. Let the tubers dry for 1-2 weeks
4. Trim off roots. You can trim off the tubers leaving each one with an eye or wait until spring
5. Place dried tubers in a box with shredded paper. Store in a cool, dry place
