Cardboard is a gardening lifesaver! Once my soil is all prepped for plants, I place down a layer of cardboard. When it's time to plant, I cut holes in the cardboard...size will depend on the plant. I dig a hole and put the plant in!

The cardboard is a lifesaver to keep weeds down! All you have to keep up with is the area directly around the base of the plant.

It will limit mud from splashing on your plants during rain...this prevents disease in your plants.

It works similar to mulch in keeping the moisture in the soil.

You can get cardboard for free which is a big win for me! My favorite is getting extra large boxes from furniture stores.

What is your favorite way to keep weeds down? Have you tried cardboard before?
